Happy Flag Day
Oh what a great holiday! The day that nobody knows about untill you look at the calender and say, "Oh yeah... where'd we put the flag... that needs to be hanging up...."
But this day means so much more than just "Oh yeah... riiiiiiiight..." to me! I happens to be my birthday.
When I was a kid people would ask me when my birthday was... I'd always answer with enthusiasm "Flag day" which was always answered with a blank stare and "oh...and when is that?"
As I got older I decided to do things the other way around when I realized I was the only person on earth that knows when flag day is. But I miss that initial confusion that gives off a sence of "I know more than you". I got to relive that feeling when I learned Japanese though... But I've always hated when people asked me to say something in Japanese... so I would always answer with "Wakarimasen"... so the conversation would go
A: Say something in Japanese
B: Wakarimasen
A: What does that mean
B: I don't know
Because for those of you who don't know... Wakarimasen truly means "I don't know"... I used that trick for a while. My friend Denis worked is way around the little trap once I made a WoW character named Wakarimasen. He asked what it was from rather than what it meant so I gave him a real answer as a reward for getting around the clever word trap.
Actaully speaking of conversations that are best represented in letters I just want to post a random moment I had the other day...
A: Kittens
B: no kittens
C (me): Maybe kittens?
A: Well Played
B: touche
